Wedding: Edwards and Lang

Adriane Nicole Edwards of Emporia and Jacob Aaron Lang of Michigan Valley were married in an early evening ceremony, conducted by the Rev. Mike Sorsen, on July 12 in the Emporia Presbyterian Church.
Heather Snyder was maid of honor and Crystal Mengotti, Jana Smart, Kristi Mendoza, and Julie Carroll attended the bride.
Michael Lang, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Groomsmen were Nick Judd, Scott Flannary, Chris Long and Paul Strother.
Courtny Smart and Emma Mengotti were flowergirls and Winston Edwards and Kyle Strother were ringbearers. Melissa Strother and Kristi Spencer lit candles. Ushers were Dustin and Austin Edwards, brothers of the bridegroom, and Nicholas Garhart, Aaron Lang and Wes Lang.
J.T. Crawford, Mary Melhorn and Jama DeFever provided music for the wedding and Jess Dold, Karen Garrison and Nikki Damron attended the guest book.
After a wedding trip to Rivieria Maya, Mexico, the couple is at home in Eudora.
The bride, the daughter of Nickie and Rick Edwards of Emporia, graduated from Northern Height High School. She received a bachelor of science in elementary education degree in 2002 from Emporia State University and a master of education degree in 2008 from Baker University. She teaches second grade at Nottingham Elementary in Eudora.
The bridegroom, a son of Diane and Tom Lang of Michigan Valley, graduated from Pomona High School in 1998 and received a bachelor of science degree in agriculture in 2003 from Kansas State University in Manhattan. He teaches agriculture at Eudora High School.
He is the grandson of Colette Stewart, Shirley Lang and Shirley and Dan Karr.

Wedding: Barrett and Rhoads

Amy Barrett and Terry L. Rhoads Jr., both of Emporia, were married Aug. 19 at the Americus Southern Baptist Church. The Rev. Dean Fox presided over the evening service.
Patricia McKenzie, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. Elizabeth Rhoads, the groom’s daughter, and Olivia Barrett, the bride’s daughter, attended the bride.
Dalton Rhoads, the groom’s son, was best man. Cody Rhoads, the groom’s son and Mike Bender, the groom’s friend, attended the groom.
Ushers were Christopher Rhoads, the groom’s brother, and Nathan Criswell, the groom’s friend.
Ruth Gutierrez was the pianist. Cindy Soule, the bride’s cousin, was the guestbook attendant. The bride’s personal attendant was Crystal Rhoads, sister of the groom.
The reception was at Best Western and was catered by Bad Ol’ Berns.
The couple now resides in Emporia.
The bride, daughter of Charles and JoAnn McKenzie, of Americus, graduated from Northern Heights High School and currently works there. She is the granddaughter of Ernest and Blanche Crane of Virgil and Marion and Leona McKenzie of El Dorado.
The groom, the son of Terry Rhoads Sr. and Linda Rhoads, of Emporia, and Nancy Myers-Rhoads, of Topeka, graduated from Hartford High School and has attended numerous military training academies.
He is the grandson of Jim and Vera Rhoads of Emporia.

Engagement: Martin and Weeden

Roland and Rosemary Martin of Hartford and Dennis and Sonja Weeden of St. Francis announce the engagement of their children, Kristina Lucille Martin and Gabriel Tyler Weeden.
Martin graduated from Olpe High School and Kansas State University with bachelor’s degrees in agribusiness and accounting. She is currently working for Kennedy and Coe Public Accountants in Pratt.
Weeden graduated from St. Francis High School and Kansas State University where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agricultural economics. He will be working as an agricultural economist for the Kansas Farm Management Association in Hutchinson.
The couple plan to marry Nov. 8, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe, KS.

Engagement: Ellender and Reed

Susan Ellender of Lebo and Matthew Coolidge of State College, Penn., and Mel and Jeanette Reed of Olpe announce the engagement of their children, Tiffany Ann Ellender of Lebo and Joseph Michael Reed of Olpe.
Ellender is a 2006 graduate of Lebo High School and is studying child education/psychology at Washburn University. She currently works at HyVee in Topeka.
Reed is a 2003 graduate of Olpe High School and a 2008 graduate of Emporia State University. He is an elementary physical education teacher for USD 501 in Topeka.
The wedding will take place Oct. 11 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Topeka.

Engagement: Hoover and Fowler

Scott and Norma Hoover, of Neosho Rapids, and Dale Fowler and Jo Fowler, of Emporia announce the engagement of their children, Amy Hoover and Kelly Fowler.
Hoover graduated from Hartford High School and Emporia State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She works at the Investment Center at ESB Financial.
Fowler graduated from Hartford High School and Flint Hills Technical College with an associate’s degree in construction technology. He farms land in the Lyon County area.
The couple plan to marry on Nov. 22, 2008, at the United Methodist Church in Neosho Rapids.
