Hello everyone,

I'm giving all The Gazette readers the chance to voice their opinions on what made the biggest sports news splash in the area this year.

Was it Clint Bowyer winning his first Nextel Cup race and finishing third in The Chase? Was it the ESU women's basketball team's amazing comeback against Washburn on national TV? Or was it the Emporia High football team's comeback against Junction City that propelled the Spartans into the State playoffs?

Post your vote here for the top sports story of the year for our area and your reason why you chose it. Remember, area high school stories count too, so yes, Olpe's 24-point comeback against Madison a few weeks ago could make our list.

Then, on Saturday, Dec. 29, check out The Gazette for the Top 10 Sports Stories of the Year for our area. We will consider nominations from everyone.

OK, so let's see those nominations.

Apparently that is the only sports story worth mentioning from this past year.

I guess all of the other users agree.
