From what I've heard and seen, I think Coach Higgins should be competitive right away with his group. My guess is they'll be 6-5 this year, taking 3-4 wins in the MIAA. What does everyone else think?

I think the Hornets will have a winning record this year. I'm pretty excited for this new quarterback I keep hearing about. Something Sloan, I think.

It would be no cake walk for them to be .500 I would expect we will see better things his second year. He really lost out this year on recruiting since he only had a few weeks to get his recruits. I'm hoping for .500 but anything better than last year is a bonus.

I agree, people shouldn't expect too much from this team in Higgins first year. Even .500 in the MIAA is an achievement. Just beat Washburn, that's all I say.

My memory is not that short...The ESU football players were awesome last year and this year with a new coach, new strategy will win the Division ll championship.

nuggets,
Your memory is really short. You must have forgotten what league the hornets play in.

nuggets,
Four of those losses you pointed out were at home. If the Hornets want to even sniff .500, they have to win at home. Especially when you're talking about losses to Truman (ugh) and Missouri Southern (double ugh).

Emporia has such an abundance of talented football players with contagiously winning attitudes that even their critics will be amazed.

I've heard a lot of skepticism (people thinking ESU may win 2-3 games this season), but we have to give the new coach his opening year and then see his efforts really pay off in the following years. Regardless - I am ready for some football!
