ALLEN — The Northern Heights Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) group has been hopping this year with a host of activities to keep them busy.

The FBLA will hold a lock-in at the school on Friday as its service project to raise money for the March of Dimes.

“All the money goes to that,” said Jessica Dhority, president of the Northern Heights FBLA.

The lock-in is for all students at the school and money raised will go to the charity. There will be activities throughout the night for students.

Also this month, Kim Dhority, the faculty sponsor for FBLA, and Jessica attended the National Fall Leadership Conference for FBLA in Minneapolis, Minn., on Nov. 7 and 8. They conducted a workshop on the school’s yearbook production. The students at Northern Heights produce their own yearbooks from start to finish with special equipment that was purchased. Jessica Dhority said the workshop was packed each time they conducted it.

The FBLA also will coordinate a basketball tournament in Emporia as a club fundraiser. The tournament will be the first Saturday in December and will be geared toward students in the third through sixth grades. Anyone interested in the tournament can call Northern Heights High School at (620) 528-3521 or contact Barbara Railsback at Emporia State University, 341-6358.
