Ryan D. Gleue, 20, of Emporia has been upgraded from critical condition to fair condition at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka. He was taken to Topeka on Sept. 26, after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a parked pickup truck as he allegedly was trying to elude police.
According to an earlier report, Gleue was driving west on West 12th Avenue when an Emporia police officer attempted to stop him. Gleue matched the description of a motorcyclist whom a citizen had reported as possibly driving while intoxicated, a police news release stated.
Gleue turned right onto Prairie Street and accelerated at a high rate of speed, eventually turning left onto Eighth Avenue. At the corner of Eighth Avenue and Woodland Street, Gleue again attempted to turn the motorcycle and struck the truck instead. He and the motorcycle were trapped beneath the truck.
