The Emporia Granada Theatre, which opened its doors after nine years and a $3 million renovation.
• Emporia High School students Zach Button, Corinne Edds and Joel Bland, who were named National Merit Commended Students in the 2009 National Merit program.
• Elizabeth McCoy, who received the Outstanding Assistive Technology Award from the Kansas Infinitec Coalition. She received the award for her role for helping students through assistive technology.
• Katie Weaver and Petey Gonzalez, who were named Emporia High’s Homecoming king and queen.
• Emporia Arts Council, who has increased their membership by more than 29 percent from last year during their EAC’s annual membership drive.
• Kathy Bastin, Lois Githens, Rhonda Mercer, Casey Norling, Carol Ogilvie, Betty Rust, Floyd Saffer, Charlie Sigle, Ashli Williams and Eula Wilson, who won $100 grocery gift cards to Price Chopper in The Emporia Gazette’s grocery giveaway.
