Health Center operated at loss in August

Wednesday, September 24, 2008

The Flint Hills Community Health Center experienced an $81,822.47 net loss for the month of August; however, that amount is below the expected loss for the month, board members learned during the monthly board of directors meeting on Wednesday.

The net loss is $32,333.12 below the budgeted loss of the month of $114,155.59. Year-to-date net income is above the budgeted amount by $228,559.81. Year to date operations have yielded income of $50,839.24. A portion of the year to date income of $174,141.77 is attributed to funds the health center has received from the Jones Trust for the dental clinic expansion.

In other business, board members discussed the mass vaccination flu clinic that the health center is hosting from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 21. The clinic is an opportunity for the public to get flu shots and a training exercise for local first responders to practice for a mass vaccination event such as a bioterrorism attack. Volunteers are needed for the clinic. Volunteers can work one of three shifts or the entire day. For more information on the flu clinic or to volunteer call the health center at 342-4864, Ext. 278.
