Lebo earns top seed

Lebo’s volleyball team is the top seed in the Class 2A Herington regional, Olpe is the third seed, Madison is fourth and Chase County is fifth.

At 2 p.m., Olpe (21-12) will take on sixth-seeded Canton-Galva (11-18), with the winner moving on to a 4 p.m. match to meet the winner of second-seeded Goessel (25-9) vs. seventh-seeded Peabody (10-21). The Wolves (32-4) will play at 3 p.m. Saturday against the winner between eighth-seeded Lyndon (5-22) and ninth-seeded Herington (5-27). Also at 3, Madison (15-15) and Chase County (16-21) will face off.

If Lebo wins its 3 p.m. game, the Wolves play the Madison-Chase County winner at 4 p.m. The substate championship will be at 5 p.m.

Also among area schools, Northern Heights will be the fifth seed at its Class 3A Regional at Fredonia. The Wildcats (13-19) will take on Burlington (15-18) at 3 p.m., with the winner moving on to face either top-seeded Eureka (27-9) or eighth-seeded Bluestem (0-34). The other side of the bracket features second-seeded Neodesha (25-10) taking on Caney Valley (9-23) and third-seeded Fredonia (20-12) vs. Council Grove (12-20). The championship will be at 5 p.m.

Hartford’s season ends at Regional

The Hartford volleyball team saw its season come to an end at its Class 1A Regional on Tuesday at LeRoy.

The Jaguars opened by defeating Yates Center 25-14, 25-15. Kellie Farr and Samantha Wilkerson each put down five kills, with Wilkerson posting a hitting efficiency of .364 and Farr hitting at .308. Mikayla Wilson had three kills and a .421 hitting efficiency, and she also served at 100 percent with two aces. Emily Kirby also served at 100 percent. Kristen Williams had 14 assists.

Hartford then lost in three sets to Marais des Cygnes Valley, 26-28, 25-20, 13-25. Farr recorded 19 kills, and Wikerson had five. Wilkerson and Williams both served at 100 percent, and Williams had 21 assists. Bronte Bailey added five stuff blocks.

The Jaguars finished their season with an 11-19 record.
