Help needed to find missing man

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

Brian Trester has been missing since he left for work Thursday morning. Authorities are asking for help to find him.

Brian Trester has been missing since he left for work Thursday morning. Authorities are asking for help to find him.

Law enforcement officers are looking for a 27-year-old man reported missing on Friday by family members.

Brian Lee Trester last was seen when he left to go to work about 6:10 a.m. Thursday, according to information from Lyon County Sheriff’s Detective Jarrod Fell.

Trester was described as a black man, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 155 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He may have a mustache.

Trester reportedly was driving a 1989 orange full-sized Chevrolet pickup truck with a license plate of QSF 026.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of the vehicle stuck on Road R5 at Road 75. The truck was unattended and was removed from the scene, Fell said.

Trester was reported missing the following day. His family told officers that behavior was unusual.

Officers returned to the area where they found the truck and searched again, but did not find Trester.

Anyone with information on Trester’s whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 342-5545 or call Lyon County Crime Stoppers at 342-2273.

I sure hope they find him soon. His family must be frantic by now. How strange for him to just vanish like that. I hope he's ok.

I Hope so too. I know him and the family and it really isn't him to just up and disapear like this. Though there is lots of rumors going around of corse, we pray that none of them are true. Please people if you know anything let the authorities know so we can try to bring him home.

I sure hope he is found soon...he has a very large family and it doesnt seem like him to just dissapear like this. Hopefully he is found soon. For all of the people starting all of the bad rumors or rumors in general please stop. You wouldn't want to hear them if this were your family, and either do we. Please if you know anything at all contact authorities and let them take care of it.

I hope there is a good outcome for this man and his family. It doesn't matter who they are or how old they are, it is still a loved one.

My thoughts and prayers are with this young man and his family! May he be brought home safely.

Somebody knows Something and they are too selfish to talk. There is NO way this man just walked right off the face of the earth.
Brians family deserves answers, so no matter how "concerned" you might be for YOURSELF you need to spill it.

That is right, I agree with you on that I believe someone knows something and they do need to tell. And the city and county need to step in and realize that he didnt just go away. I feel like if this were their family they would have already been searching and more than just a little bit also. Come on Lyon county we need help finding this guy, he didnt just leave town or not want to talk to his family something is really strange about this situation and it needs some serious attention...PLEASE. This family want their loved one back.

I hope this man is found quickly and found well. That said, if the Gazette got this info from Lyon County Sheriff’s Detective Jarrod Fell, that means the county law enforcement is involved. Since the truck was found in the county, it is in their jurisdiction and the city officers can only help right now by keeping open eyes. Odds are that the State Troopers or even KBI are also assisting with the investigation, but there has to be evidence or tips that they can follow. If we learned anything two weeks ago, it was that it takes many people many hours to find an elderly man on foot that was lost a few blocks away. This case is obviously much more complicated by many more possibilities......it's going to take time. I will be praying for God's peace and strength for the family as they wait.

what about checking parks?? (i.e. peter pan, soden, etc.)

I know the family very very very closely and they are saying as of right now the law enforcement are not doing much if any to help with finding Brian. Yes it was reported and yes they have looked for a short time but they have not gone to the extent that the family feels they should have at this point. So when the family can actually say that they have looked for him more than the law enforcement have its a pretty sad situation. For goodness sake I know of for sure that Brianms brother has been looking for him on horseback in the fields. Brian has officially been missing for one whole week and obviously he didnt just leave the area...PLEASE HELP US FIND HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok so i have been in emporia with the family since sat and we have looked in fields in creeks in ditches....the police had helicopter for about 30 minutes thats it....i do believe there is more they could do and strongly believe if this was a female missing they would not stop till they found something.....there is alot of speculation going around and you never know what a rumor could lead to,,,,so if you hear anything even hear say or rumor please let cops or family know you can reach anyone just about on here facebook or myspace or contact law officials.....everyone is just sick with worry...please help

I'm also a little confused why there doesn't seem to be more of an outpouring of support to find this man. Do people think he's on the run or what is the deal? Are there fliers around town? Has anyone set up a stand for volunteer searchers? I think the previous poster was right on the money in saying that if this were a woman it would be a statewide or perhaps nationwide story.

Posted by ESUROCKS (anonymous) on October 30, 2009 at 4:33 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I too believe there should be more community support in finding this man! I don't feel that enough is being done. I don't hear about this on the news or in the papers as much as one person would think. I have many friends in surrounding counties and they know NOTHING of this...it's sad! I too, pray for a good outcome.

BAR-ROOM GOSSIP JUST IN:

HE'S BEEN FOUND!

Posted by mcmommy (anonymous) on October 30, 2009 at 7:51 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I just contacted Brians family, Brian has Not been found. Where did you hear that he had been found?

Posted by Steve_Corbin (anonymous) on October 30, 2009 at 7:59 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Well I did say it was a bar-room gossip. Sorry if not correct but like I said "bar-room".

Posted by Steve_Corbin (anonymous) on October 30, 2009 at 8:01 p.m. (Suggest removal)

And I am really sorry if it wasn't correct, but usually, the coffee group/bar flies have a handle on what's going on in Emporia.

Please check first before you go public, Steve. You could hurt people. Hard evidence is always best.

Like I said "my bad, and I'm sorry."

And not knowing ANYTHING about this , I hope that he is found alive and well. I hope he just got tired of the grind and hitched a ride to Las Vegas, and will call his family tonight and let them know he is O.K.

You know if this were your family member bar gossip or not you absolutely would not think it was a bit of a joke or anything to even lightly kid about how dare you...! He has been missing for almost two weeks now and this lovely town of emporia has yet to help much it is almost like he is gone and it is ok and realistically it is not. Man or woman black, white or mexican he is gone and it is not fair at all to his family for them not to help find him. Like I said previously if it were a big person in this town with a little bit of money I guarantee there would be help finding him. This as well as anyone else with this kind of situation needs attention. This has proved to me that in this town it really is true that money talks...Thanks Emporia

i dont know what someone like myself could do to help find him. i have taken time to read the fliers in the store and read the news on him and i find myself taking a second look at men who fit his description in case its him. if the police arent doing as much as you think they should, take it up with them, maybe a little pressure from the family would get better results has the police used the dog to try and find him i thought one of the reasons for getting the dog was to help find people i would be sick if a relative came up missing there has to be some type of explanation for his disappearance and i truly hope he comes home safe and sound sorry for the poor punctuation my keyboard is broke

HEY GAZETTE!

Where did that picture of Mr. Trester come from?

Posted by Steve_Corbin (anonymous) on November 4, 2009 at 10:05 p.m. (Suggest removal)

titan;

If you are refering to my post, I am not kidding about anything.
If it was someone in my family missing would I be concerned?
YOU BETCHA!
I posted about a bar-rumor, nothing more.
No kidding intended.
But are there FACTS that were left out of this story?
YOU BETCHA!
Like I posted, I hope the young man is found safe and sound, it will make a lot of people, including his family, sleep better at night.

For you to deal the race/money card into this discussion really takes some nerve and you should apologize for it.

But then this is a forum and everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Posted by mcmommy (anonymous) on November 5, 2009 at 8:05 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Your right this isnt about race/money, this is about a human being who we cant find. Brian is my cousin and no matter what race he is we still love him and he is missed very much. Not trying to start all kinds of drama, all we want is Brian to come home. Yes it would be very nice to have help finding him from the police. Lets not forget that this is about finding BRIAN nothing else!

Posted by biscuitboy (anonymous) on November 5, 2009 at 8:07 a.m. (Suggest removal)

every week hundreds of people go missing in this country. If they are adults...and there is no hard evidence of foul play.....or a young woman about to get married to catch the media's attention....law enforcement does little to try and find them. They say they have too many other important things to do. As a result sometimes the missing eventually show up on their own,,,,sometimes their remains are found years later.....and some are never found at all.

It's always a sad situation for the people that loved them. But we have our priorities in this country.....and common everyday people without clout are not one of them.

Posted by kloverz (anonymous) on November 5, 2009 at 8:52 a.m. (Suggest removal)

We who know Brian and his family are all praying he is found safe.... Praying 4 him in our small town of Iola.

No matter what the situation just remember his family is going through a hard time already and they do not need the DRAMA of speculation.... Just be tasteful & respectful PLZ!

Posted by ToxicPink (anonymous) on November 5, 2009 at 9:43 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Maybe if the picture of him riding horses or with his girlfriend were posted the police might care a little more.

There's been plenty of studies done that say law enforcement are more apt to care about white, females more then they will a black male. The media too. This needs to be broad casted more.

Get off your asses and find him already.

Posted by Joe_Strummer (anonymous) on November 5, 2009 at 11:39 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Guess the race card had to be played eventually.
I don't think this has anything to do with race, religion, shoe size, etc, etc....
I think it's about a guy who doesn't want to be found.

Posted by biscuitboy (anonymous) on November 5, 2009 at 12:28 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Joe_Strummer

Are you basing that statement on any relevant information you might have.....or just on your preconceived notions?

Posted by Joe_Strummer (anonymous) on November 5, 2009 at 1:22 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I know nothing about this situation.
That said....Using a little logic it's not too difficult to draw a conclusion.

Posted by mommy (anonymous) on November 5, 2009 at 4:28 p.m. (Suggest removal)

yea its hard to draw a conclusion when your not a family member an here all the rumors. as his sister an as of november 05 we have heard nothing but rumors an no leads or nothing

As we all know yes Brian Trester is black who gives a damn! This man who happins to be a part of my family is missing and you people wanna sit around and talk. Whats it matter where the picture came from who is he too you? It don't matter if it was the pic with his girlfriend or on the horse. Come on people look at the picture he is gone and we miss him. All we want is for this man to come home safe and soon. I sure hope none of you have to go through what we are dealin with right now. If people can't say nothin nice or have anythin good to say about this than have some respect and keep your comments to your self and i don't give a damn about your free county and your opions.

Posted by lots_to_learn (anonymous) on November 5, 2009 at 5:23 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Just want the family to know that they are in our thoughts and prayers. I can't imagine how horrible it must be to NOT KNOW.

Posted by MisterO (anonymous) on November 5, 2009 at 7:39 p.m. (Suggest removal)

It's not illegal for an adult to choose to disappear. Unless there is evidence of foul play or some other evidence that he is missing/endangered (a juvenile, suicidal, on medications, has health problems, has had threats against him, etc.), there really is very little the police can do. They can take a report and do a cursory local search, but unless one of the conditions above exist, they can't even enter them into the national missing persons' database.

The fact that they have twice searched for him, using helicopters (very expensive, by the way) is, frankly, surprising.

I know that's not very comforting for the family members who care about him and are concerned.

I hope that he's ok and that you hear from him soon.

Posted by amberb (anonymous) on November 6, 2009 at 3:39 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Since there is so much controversy about brians pic go to myspace look up amber_b85@yahoo.com look at my true love pictures there are a few pics there of brian. As for foul play why would a man who told me he would see me that night leave all his money clothes cigarettes everything just to run off and quite frankly wouldnt he keep the truck i think he would. Also from what im told there were people threatining him. I think something terrible happened to brian and the people responsble need to be punished its not right brian was only 27 he has his whole life ahead of him. Yes they have searched twice for him it also took emporias finest 5 days to start their investigation!!! Thats bull im sorry we asked them if we could round up an army of family members to search ourselves we were told "no that wasnt necessary we have called for one" see its been two weeks yesterday and they did their foot search yesterday. Im sorry but we all see the news that one white girl that went to the metillica concert went missing its on national news!! Im sorry but you all know if he was a cute white college student the search would have started alot sooner! we couldnt even be taken seriously until five days afterward thats just wrong. We just want leroy back safe and god forbid we wanted our community to help.

Amber, you know who I am, I'll text you in a bit. I love you, you were a great friend for all the years we were together even though we've lost touch. I know I told you the other day that I was thinking about you, still am and I want to say the emporia police department is not doing what they can just out of sheer bias towards all the crap I've studied on these types of things. I'm on your side and his family's even though I've never met them, or him even. I hope that closure happens soon and I hope it's him coming home. Stay Strong.
