methusla;
I am telling you that the solution is getting cars involved in it. It touches all groups. The higher income folks would probably end up paying the bulk of any increased city income funds that would need to be collected, but just because they have more income. They always pay more, but everyone uses gas and all of the other products and services required for auto upkeep.
Letters to potential employers in other states and countries probably end up in those companies dead letter boxes. By your admission, you haven't heard back from any of them.
Say you have a nice day too, and thank you, I am sure to have one.

You offer no solutions to the slings and arrows of living in Emporia, except, 'throw the bums out', and elect you and several other poster cronies as representatives. Emporia needs jobs! It is that simple. The city could take the bold step of giving everyone $1500 off the local purchase of a new car. The spin offs of doing that would be more car sales, more car maintenance, more tire sales, more traffic tickets, more taxes paid, more gasoline sales, more street repair, more bank loans, more car washes needed, more auto gadgets sales, and many more opportunities for increased sales of products and services leading to more jobs for Emporia. If belly aching about your representatives would fix anything you could be known as the Great Fixer. It will only lead to more belly aching however, and no new jobs for Emporia.

Sure I do. I think too much penny pinching has got us some pretty poor representation. If we would offer up a new car every two years or so, we could expect a higher level of representation. You get what you pay for. You don't necessarily get what you vote for. If they drive our car they had better be vested in our interests. They need something from you every day to remind them of how much they need you. If they only get your vote once per term then you can expect them to deliver service to you at about that same frequency. Don’t you have to pay for your groceries every time you go to get them? There is no free lunch. And as a bonus somebody just might get a free set of steak knives.

I am thinking that if the city and county would provide cars for the commissioners and other top dogs that we would get better representation from those folks. A side benefit would be that more cars might get sold in Emporia, and that in itself is not a bad thing.

Good point admireed.
Some folks are so into this CHANGE that we are in the undergoing that they seem to think that everything is free. If it is not free, then the government is expected to steal it from those that have it, and give it to those who need it. This is an opportunity for us to give to a good cause from our hearts if we do indeed feel it to be a worthy cause. If we don't then we have the option to turn our heads. I hope we all find it in our hearts to help out those who give their time and other resources to assure that animals are treated with respect.

Actually I understand both your perspective and the perspective that goodoleboy. The shelter did not post this story because they were searching for the answer to unwanted pets, and they figured someone out there might just have the answer. THEY HAVE ASKED FOR FOOD FOR KITTENS AND COLLARS FOR DOGS. Re read the article. Nowhere does it ask if anyone knows how to eliminate the problem of unwanted animals.
