It's a horrible thing to say, but shouldn't these animals be euthanized if they cannot be cared for? Will they be euthanized anyway if no one adopts them? There are hungry children in this town, too.

FROM THE CDC:
A large proportion (73%) of patients hospitalized with 2009 H1N1 had one or more underlying conditions, including asthma, diabetes, heart, lung, or neurologic disease, or pregnancy. Asthma was the most common underlying medical condition, and was found in 29% of children and 27% of adults. Although underlying medical conditions were common, severe illness among young healthy persons was also identified.
So, 27% of the deaths were amongst perfectly healthy people. Cover your coughs, folks! ESPECIALLY in line at the store, ok?

Ok, Clint Bowyer is a great guy, but he spends his day driving a fast car in a circle, not protecting our nation (Thank you, Veterans), or promoting a national philosophy of socio-political importance, and observed on an international scale, AND the reading of quality writings and books by people of all ages (Thank you, WA and WL White, WAW Children's Book Awards). Why on earth should our veterans have to share their sign with anyone, and why should our great philosopher and newsman be replaced by a race car driver? Is that what Emporia is? NASCAR Nation? Someone's been sniffing too many car exhaust emissions...

King Liquor has had specialty beers and "build your own" six packs for months and months. And you should see the wine selection - WOW.

If I HAD $5 I would. But these are animals, regardless of their dearness, cuteness and innocence. If it comes to people vs. animals...I want to spend that $5 for the food pantry. And if people wouldn't act like animals and dump their pets, or refuse to have them fixed... A pet is a RESPONSIBILITY, not a whim. The whole thing stinks, and is very sad.
